Overview
On August 8, 2005, President George W. Bush signed the
Energy Policy Act of 2005. This Act extends the transition dates for Daylight
Saving Time (DST) in the United States. Beginning in 2007, DST will now begin
three weeks earlier (2:00 A.M. on the second Sunday in March) and will end one
week later (2:00 A.M. on the first Sunday in November). As a result, all
operating systems will require an update to reflect the new DST rules.
CS&T
CS&T has successfully applied the DST patches released for
Windows XP and Windows Server 2003, Exchange 2003 SP2, SUN, and VMware systems.
In addition, we have successfully updated the DST parameters on our Windows 2000
systems using the instructions found in KB article 914387 (see below).

BlackBerry
When the DST dates change in March 2007, BlackBerry® devices will not update their clocks for the affected time zones, if no patches for impacted BlackBerry software and third party software are applied. As a result, your BlackBerry devices might not display correct time zone information for certain time periods during the year.
The UCF BlackBerry® Enterprise Server has been patched and is ready for the new Daylight Savings Time changes. All BlackBerry® devices activated on the UCF BES will be upgraded from the BlackBerry® Enterprise Server via a patch deployment utility directly to each device once the patch is tested on our test lab. We will provide information on upgrade dates as soon as we can approve the patch.
Any BlackBerry® devices NOT activated on the UCF BlackBerry® Enterprise Server will need to be upgraded via download the patch from http://www.blackberry.com/select/dst2007/
If you have further questions regarding your BlackBerry® device you can contact Edwin Benitez at 407-823-3941 or ebenitez@mail.ucf.edu.
